Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Calerio ("Calerio," "we," "us") collects through the Calerio mobile app and this website, why we collect it, and how you can control it. By using Calerio, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we receive your name and email address from Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, or the email address you register with directly. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
Health and fitness data. With your permission, Calerio reads steps, active energy, and body weight from Apple Health so your calorie budget reflects how much you actually move, and writes weigh-ins you log back to Apple Health so your data stays in sync across apps. You control this access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.
Photos and camera. With your permission, Calerio uses your camera to analyze meals, scan barcodes and menus, and capture progress photos, and accesses your photo library to analyze meals you've already photographed. Images you submit for meal analysis are processed to estimate calories and macros and are not used to identify you personally.
Voice input. With your permission, Calerio uses the microphone and on-device/cloud speech recognition to convert spoken meal descriptions into text so you can log food without typing. Audio is processed to produce a text transcript and is not stored as an audio recording after transcription.
Food and logging data. Meals, weigh-ins, water intake, fasting sessions, and any notes you enter are stored so the app can show your history and compute your daily totals.
Usage and device data. We collect behavioral analytics about how you use the app — for example, which screens you open, whether a scan succeeded, and coarse, bucketed values like a calorie range or streak length — to understand adoption and fix problems. We do not send your name, email, exact body weight, height, age, date of birth, meal names, photos, or free-text descriptions to our analytics provider.
Payment information. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, and by our subscription management provider, RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your credit card number.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate core features: meal logging, calorie and macro estimates, calorie budgets, and progress tracking.
- To sync data across your devices and keep your account secure.
- To personalize your daily calorie and macro targets based on your logged data and activity.
- To understand product usage and improve reliability and features.
- To process subscription purchases and manage your entitlements.
- To communicate with you about your account, service updates, or support requests.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We use a small number of vetted providers to run Calerio, each of which processes data on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscription entitlements and billing.
- Mixpanel — processes behavioral, bucketed product analytics as described above.
- Apple / Google Sign-In — used only to authenticate you if you choose that sign-in method.
- Apple HealthKit — used on-device to read and write the health data described above; Apple's own privacy terms govern data while it is in Health.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account and logging data for as long as your account is active, so the app can show your history. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app, or by contacting us at privacy@calerio.info. Deleting your account removes your logged data from our database; some information may persist briefly in backups before automatic expiry.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Access, correct, or export your logged data by contacting us.
- Delete your account and data at any time.
- Revoke camera, microphone, photo, or Health permissions at any time in your device settings — the app will keep working, with reduced logging convenience.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact us to exercise these rights.
6. Children's Privacy
Calerio is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls on our database and authentication provider, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. By using Calerio, you consent to your information being transferred to and processed in these locations.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
